Big-city speed at small-town prices
Air Advantage began providing broadband wireless service throughout the Thumb of Michigan in 2002 with 5 towers atop grain silos serving a potential market of about 2,000 people. Air Advantage connected its first customer on July 25, 2002 in Pigeon Michigan. Its initial geographic market included Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac Counties located in what is considered the heart of Michigan’s “Thumb”. This entire geographic area represents approximately 61,000 households and about 4.6% of the total land mass of Michigan. This area is considered very rural and averages 45 households per square mile compared to the statewide average of 175 households per square mile. Since its inception, Air Advantage has expanded its coverage throughout the Thumb. In addition to its original coverage area, Air Advantage now serves portions of rural Saginaw, Bay, Lapeer, St. Clair, Shiawassee, Genesee, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Macomb Counties. The Company’s original 5-tower network has grown to over 160 towers serving nearly 6,000 commercial and residential customers.
In 2012, Air Advantage built and activated a 450-mile fiber network designed to provide unlimited backhaul bandwidth to its existing towers. In addition to serving those wireless towers, the fiber network also delivers fiber to the premise (FTTP) service to schools, businesses, governmental organizations, health care facilities, and residential homes. This network is positioned to deliver fiber to the home (FTTH) service to rural communities throughout the Thumb. Partnership agreements with other privately-owned fiber networks provides Air Advantage access to an additional nearly 500 miles of fiber throughout the Region. We are continually improving the methods by which we deliver internet to our customer base. Our passion is to provide rural communities with client-focused internet, communications, and technology solutions. We are not too big to listen to what the community needs. Our technicians live and work throughout the Air Advantage service area so they understand the challenges you face in securing a fast, reliable Internet solution. Many times, we send these technicians out to your house to fix a problem that just can get fixed over the phone. During normal business hours, our technical support staff works out of our office located in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Outside of normal business hours, support is provided by U.S. based technicians that SPECIALIZE in wireless ISP's so they understand your challenges.
