About Air Advantage

Big-city speed at small-town prices.

Air Advantage began providing broadband wireless service across the Thumb of Michigan in 2002, with five towers on grain silos serving a potential market of about 2,000 people. Our first customer was connected on July 25, 2002 in Pigeon, Michigan.

Today our network has grown to over 160 towers serving nearly 6,000 residential and commercial customers across Huron, Tuscola, Sanilac, Saginaw, Bay, Lapeer, St. Clair, Shiawassee, Genesee, Oakland, Washtenaw and Macomb counties.

In 2012 we built a 450-mile fiber network that carries unlimited bandwidth to our towers and delivers fiber directly to schools, businesses, government, healthcare facilities and homes. Partnerships with other private fiber networks give us access to nearly 500 more miles of fiber across the region.

Air Advantage is now part of Thumb Electric Cooperative (TEC), which acquired the company in late 2021 to expand broadband and fiber across the Thumb and Great Lakes Bay regions.
